Allotment Update

Not been to the plot for a few days but need to get there to turn the seed trays of cabbage, cauli and chicories growing away on the windowsills of my shed.

The squashes are growing like mad as are courgettes, cucumbers, caulis, chillies, runner beans, borlottis. The Desiree potatoes are brilliant and thank goodness they've done the business because the Kerrs Pinks and Arran Pilots were a washout!

All my onions, shallots and garlic are gathered in and sitting in racks all over the shed. The Japanese onion sets will be going in soon as will the garlic, when the whole cycle begins again. Onion marmalade is on the agenda!

The assortment of squashes and pumpkins are looking promising so it looks like my pantry will again be stuffed to the rafters with them. Mind you there'll be no shortage of takers as they're popular in my family for making soup and pumpkin pies. This year's pie squash is Striped Green Cushaw.
