Latest plot pics

Uncovered a 2m wide strip of plot previously under black sheet mulch for about 18 months or so. No sign of any weeds or vegetation so proof-positive that it mulching does work in getting rid of weeds. I prefer that to weed killer but it does take ages! Oh well my plot is big enough to have great swathes of it under wraps.
Got to work planting in it right away, and despite no rain for weeks, the soil was very moist which I assume was down to the layer of manure which I bunged under there last year. Made holes with my trusty bulb planter and planted calabrese and some lolla rosso lettuces, oh and a few tree onions straight into the undug soil

All the fleeces and cloches can hopefully be removed once the plants have grown large enough to withstand pigeons. They do look awful!
