Lettuces for tea

Lovely day on the plot today and picked a lovely selection of salad leaves for my tea - crunchy Little Gems, lolla rossa, mixed leaves and rocket for a bit of spice.

Started harvesting my Hispi cabbages and had some for dinner last night. Can't wait for the tomatoes and stuff to start cropping

I spotted my first strawbs today!

Managed a full day on the allotment, which unfortunately doesn't happen often, and I planted celeriac - which I forgot to water in. Tsk! I might put leeks next to them. the soil is undug but they're not fussy. The brassicas seem to prefer being in hard soil which is just as well. I planted some red cabbage Tete Noir and some calabrese Autumn Spear. I've got some savoys and PSB planted amid a froth of flowering sage and they look gorgeous. Must remember my camera next visit. The pigeons have not touched those so I think the sage might be something to do with it

Got a bean rig teepee up today and planted a few purple flowered mange touts and Delicata lettuces at the base for a bit of edible decoration. The beans, should they ever germinate, will be added along with a small squash and a few sunflowers
